Explanatory notes:

Light northeast monsoon conditions persist over the region until Saturday.From Sunday the low level winds become light and variable with the development of sea breezes especially likely as the doldrums form over the region as the subtropical high pressure over the western pacific contracts along with the Siberian High with the development of a Bai Yu front over central China.Then from next Wednesday light northwesterly low level winds persist over the Straits of Melaka and the west coast states of Peninsular Malaysia as atmospheric pressure over the northern Bay of Bengal increases.

Throughout the forecast period,moderately moist and unstable atmosphere persist over the region with the development of sea breezes likely.This will lead to significant chances of showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon but reduced chances from Tuesday with the steering flow from the southwest.

From next Tuesday the steering flow is also expected to be from the southwest as both the monsoon trough and southern monsoon trough moves north.This leads to chances of showers and thunderstorms during the early hours and morning as showers and thunderstorms develop over the Straits of Melaka due to land breeze convergence and are steered towards the coast.
