A "Sumatras" mesoscale convective system lies over the Straits of Malacca and is expected to affect the region in the next few hours.The SWIRLS nowcasting system predicts the mesoscale convective system to reach the city by 5 AM.
Further showers and thunderstorm development mainly over inland areas during the afternoon and evening and also over Sumatra.
The showers and thunderstorms over Sumatra could fuse into a "Sumatras" line of showers and thunderstorms that could affect the forecast area from evening.
A somewhat westerly steering flow until Wednesday with the monsoon trough aloft slightly to the north.
Chances of rain increases late during the working week as the monsoon trough aloft moves south and the steering flow shifts to become from the northeast.
