Throughout the forecast the forecast period typical wet season conditions as the region lies within the doldrums with a highly moist and unstable atmosphere leading to high chances of showers and thunderstorms with light easterly low level winds from Saturday to Monday as subtropical high pressure over the northwest Pacific strengthens and expands,then light northwesterly low level winds during the middle of next week.

A weak equatorial Rossby wave lies to the east of Borneo and associated with it is two twin tropical lows,one north of Papua New Guinea and one in the Arafura sea.These tropical lows need watching with possible strengthening in the next few days,still plenty of uncertainty.

Nevertheless during early/middle next week the monsoon trough in the southern hemisphere is expected to strengthen reducing rain chances over the forecast area,albeit only slightly by strengthening the cross equatorial flow transporting moisture away to the southern hemisphere with light northwesterly low level winds expected over the forecast area during this period.

Note that from this forecast onwards minimum temperature forecast is for the morning minimum only.Previously could fall throughout the 24 hour day for example with showers and thunderstorms.Under the new rue the miniumum temperature forecast for Thursday March 16 would have been 27 Degrees Celsius.
