Explanatory notes:
Northeast monsoon throughout the forecast period with the monsoon trough within the vicinity of the region,as a result wet weather conditions especially early to mid next week with the development of a tropical low east of the east coast possible.
Another heavy rainfall episode over the east coast states is possible next week as predicted by many weather models including the GFS and ECMWF but still some uncertainty.This heavy rainfall episode could be accompanied by the development of a tropical low within the vicinity of Northern Peninsula Malaysia and this could lead to especially wet weather conditions throughout the Peninsula from Monday to Wednesday.
The Malaysian meteorological Department has not yet issued a severe weather warning for this heavy rainfall episode.
The GFS 00Z solutions over the past few model runs have been comparatively wetter than the ECMWF solutions for the past few model runs.
The prospects of precipitation late during the working week depends on what happens to the monsoon trough as it could move northwards leading to west-southwesterly low level winds and steering flow penetrating into the region as predicted by GFS model or it could remain within the vicinity of the region as predicted by ECMWF model.The former would lead to less chance of rain.
