Explanatory notes:
Northeast monsoon with the monsoon trough within the vicinity of the region,as a result wet weather conditions until Wednesday with the development of a tropical low east of the east coast.
The heavy rainfall episode over the east coast states continues until Wednesday as predicted by many weather models including the GFS and ECMWF .This heavy rainfall episode is being accompanied by the development of a tropical low within the vicinity of Northern Peninsula Malaysia.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued dangerous (formerly known as red),severe(formerly known as amber or orange) and alert(formerly known as yellow) heavy rain warnings for the east coast states and also Perlis,Penang,Kedah and parts of Perak.Please see http://www.met.gov.my/web/metmalaysia/weatherwarning/heavyrain for the latest heavy rain warnings.
The chances of rain over the region decreases late during the working week as the monsoon trough moves slightly to the north leading to westerly winds penetrating the 900 hPa-500 hPa level.
