Throughout the forecast the forecast period typical wet season conditions as the region lies within the doldrums with a highly moist and unstable atmosphere leading to high chances of showers and thunderstorms with light easterly low level winds from Saturday to Monday as subtropical high pressure over the northwest Pacific strengthens and expands,then light northwesterly low level winds.

There is however some uncertainty regarding rain prospects during the middle of next week due to uncertainty in the possible formation of a tropical system over the Arafura and Timor Sea north of mainland Australia which will affect the cross equatorial wind flow and thus the amount of moisture and instability of the atmosphere over the due to effects on moisture transport.
